Paint jobs that stand out from the crowd as being excellent and not a homage to when it left the factory. Race cars done really well. A brave choice of colour on an older car A highlight of colour that really lifts the overall atheistic.
A thread where people had a really good idea and carried it through.
We can do a thread on abysmal colour schemes if you like - but lets bring the best here.
I'll post some examples of what I'm thinking.......

Unsure if this fits the theme or not but I believe its unique to the tuner who offered the model new - its just a black stripe added to Vauxhall Viva HC - Thing is that black stripe made a everyday boring gold metallic Viva into something that made you look twice rather than just letting it drive past (What Brabham did under the bonnet also set this car out from your standard Viva too) - The stripe is quite typical of 1970's paint jobs but it was still quite bold for its era - Its a very rare car in this format - for sale at auction in the near future too
I'm a huge fan of TVR reflex charcoal and Toyota Spruce Mica - can't find pre-2001 pics to hand but will paint a couple of classics when life calms down and post replacement pics!

I'm a sucker for a good green paintjob ever since I had a 330Ci that the original owner certainly went a bit nuts with the options list on. Colour was Petrol Mica metallic with light olive maple wood and light nappa leather not too dissimilar to the below
Was certainly a nice place to be and I never saw another. Perhaps I need to have a chat with a certain person re a paintjob on an MG project of mine 🤔😉

Metal Flake became popular in the 1960's and was seen on a wide range of cars it very quickly became the go to finish for the customiser
By no means easy to apply - it involved various layers to be sprayed on to the vehicle prior to a lacquer being applied over the top
Its still out there and used for lots of trick paint jobs
Heading into the 70's some very clever vehicle painters started to blend metalflake with the new to the market candy paint finishes - this became an art form and was followed on by some pretty spectacular pin striping & lacing - but that's for another post - I'm somewhat bewildered at the fact that the clots that vinyl wrap modern supercars like call themselves customisers (They obviously wouldn't understand what went into a real custom paint job)

One that will get the Viva boys jumping up and down, as far as im aware Brabham never did a kit for the HC, only the HA & HB, it was just that though for the HA/HB an add on kit with very few records or proof of cars that were converted.... "Buyer beware" as the old saying goes
