Yes but my 3 most hated letter in the world are BSF.
There is only 1 place in OZ that you can buy them from and they are not even in the same state as me so i have to wait a week to get screws or bolts.
Sighs.
Just as bad here when you mention the word 'Whitworth' - a very much deleted & obsolete fastening - only reason you can get some stock is that it was used in the rail industry but that tends to be the larger sizes - the smaller stuff is increasingly getting hard to source and guess what Jowett used for fastenings throughout the model range

Even more frustraing is MG in their engines from this era use metric threads with whitworth heads WTF. Anyway enough raging for one night blame the french for building planes in engalnd and then MG for buying the building.

That's an easy one. Morris bought the Hotchkiss factory in order to make their (and Wolseley's) engines. Being it French, it was all metric.

Ok Housten we have a problem. The repo headlight mounts are crap. The Drivers side is much nicer but the Passengers side is aweful. Look at what it is doing the guard.

So i attacked the front of the guard yesterday with 40grit in the grinder and managed to cover half the driveway in bog dust. In some areas in it the bog was over 1/4 inch thick. Once removed it gave me a better look at wat the story was. In the past there had been alot of repairs to the front of it, most of them average some really bad and some not bad at all. It did need 1 section cut out and replaced including the lower section that bolts to the chassis. I made these up and have welded in the patch which mind you was not easy effort. With the Tig on 30 amps pulsed to 18 trying to tack it in was a struggle. I did 1 tack and when i stoped it had blown a hole 1/4 inch away from where i was welding. The metal was so thin and bad steel i ended up having to start again and cut a whole lot more than i indended to. I have the patch welded in and leaded clean. All i have to do today is plug weld the bottom peice in the attach the captive nut for the front valance and cut an opening for the front bumper spacer to go through and then refit it and start the process of getting the guard to sit where it is meant to again. First fitting was about 1 3/4 out so back to the drawing board if this doesnt help to fix that.

SO been awhile since i posted last. Have been working on different areas of the car. New floors have been made, Rear guards and tanks ends, rear valance and the doors are all finished and painted All the electrics are run to where they need to be. Dash wiring is done ready to plug in. I got the veneer to the dash from England so that is in the press now flattening. Finally go the airfilter adaptor made so i finally finished that. We have had the car out and running and driving a few times now just to do shakedown runs. Technically we are in lockdown again but in a town of 300 people you can get away with little things like that.
Work shop is a bit full right now i am getting a new roof on the second area so all the cars needed to be moved out.

Morning All,
So i have been doing some more work on the MG. I have finished the rear end up.
With having all that in place i moved on to the interiour. I put the seats in to see in they all lined up and to make the holes for the captives in the floor boards, and to also see if the newly added seat belts would fit.
With them all in and ok i then moved on with the rest of the interiour. All ihave left is the door cards to do and finish the dash

So the TD is moving along now. Basically all done apart from the bonnet, front guards and front valance.
These i started on last night. I had a few set backs like the cheap repo hood pins snapping off in the windscreen frame and it having to be pulled apart again.
We did manage to brake a UNI in the tail shaft yesterday so that needs to come out again.
But besides that a few minor details on the rest of the car to finish. Glove box door needs to be made to fit a few bits of piping need the ends cut and folded carpet to be pinned down in final place. Adjust handbrake tune engine but not alot to do.

so now the rest of the car is basically finished apart from a few small details i am now finishing the front guards and bonnet. I may be weird but i always test fit and get close these parts during the initial build but always finished them last on wooden body cars. These old cars like to move and twist whilst you are building them. So i always finish the guards and front after everything elso is finished and bolted tight to give me the final place they wil live. So saying that back to body work. Profiling of the front guards is nearly done just some time to spend on the drivers side today and finish the bonnet sides and then put it all into high build and then final sanding. Hoping to have all this done by next week end for final paint day on this car.
cheers
As you can see from this last pic the Pass side guard has a different profile.
I will try to make them closer but we dont know how much can be achieved. I also dont know which one is more correct.
Either way a new set of guards is about $4k delivered to us and my client doesnt want to spend the cash.

Hi All,
Well today she will be leaving me for several months. She will come back for final polishing and a few small things. It has been a fun build but time to move onto the next car.
