The thread for all your straight 6 cylinder plus engined cars - cars only mind - no commercials & certainty no V or W configured blocks - here's a few to start with
It doesn't have to be overly exotic to attract straight 6 as motive power
Although available with the larger V8
Rovers SD1 was also offered with a 6 pot in various cubic capacities
Some cars though just needed to sound has good as they looked
So Pontiac offered the option of their straight 8 engine for the Silver Streak (amongst other models that the engine was fitted to over its 20 year production span)
scratching the back of my brain , i can only think of a couple of "sixes" that ive ever driven (sadly not owned!)...but boy were they good. not the actual cars but..
Heres my car....straight 6 BMW e34 535i....owned it nearly 10 years now... Grumpy saved this car from being bean cans back in 2019...its a good solid car now thanks to the work he did.
Straight sixes are rare in my ownership, there has been one commercial - but that has been banned. And this rather lovely Vauxhall Omega 2.5TD Elite Estate
It was notable, as being an Elite - had all the fruit on it. Including a memory rear view mirror - hooked into the seats and door mirrors. Never seen that since on any car.
The straight six was of BMW origin I believe, and had over 300K on the clock. There was a sensor or something on the blink, and it used to stall when hot. The fix was to pour 2L of water over the intake/fuel pump, and all would be fine for a while. That was most memorable when it happened on Westminster bridge in rush hour !!
^^^good engines, BMW sourced but supplied with a detuned ECU, if you could get hold of the BMW ECU you got something like an extra 30BHP
Alas I sold it a while ago.
The guy I sold it too brought down non-diesel in jerry cans for his 300+ mile journey home. How tight is that !! He got 15 miles before the filters got blocked and he was stranded by the side of the road.

Lets open the Jaguar book at the XK120 then as this engine in several formats went on to serve in much of the the model range over a significant production period
I've posted elsewhere but it's only fitting to add one of my faithful old GT6 (first race car - with a couple of other sixes and a brace of V8s in between)

Austin Healey 3000 made use of the 6 cylinder BMC C series engine which would also find its way into several other models that were produced under the large BMC umbrella
