Lovely job on the instruments - the clock in the speedo is fully working having been restored 2-3 years back with new but 'original' parts - told it is too small for an easy contactless conversion. It keeps excellent time!

The real benefit of having a client that's a retired engineering manager - fully understands what the problem is, comes up with a solution, then provides the parts required - in this case we needed to shim the clutch pedal arm off the chassis pivot in order to prevent it fouling on the bulkhead - Garth not only sent me a range of ready to go shims but also the split pins - faultless
Clutch pedal arm now refitted along with the linkage (all mechanical)
And with the clutch pedal arm sorted the adjacent brake pedal arm was refitted
This is a more complex set up than the clutch - note that master cylinder works with the piston being drawn outwards rather than inwards as on most other vehicles
Lots of other loose ends sorted but not a lot to show for it - heater pipes reconnected - harness clipped in place etc
Harness / cables also tided / clipped in place on the offside
Most of the engine control cables reconnected / recommissioned - just the choke cable left to do in the morning
Having checked it over again I have mostly sorted out the wiring / routing / tracing for the indicator circuits - I just need to wire them in now - more tomorrow
is it just my wonky eye , or is the ammeter an odd man out?
Its your wonky eye - its a Smiths gauge that matches the rest but it just doesn't have a silver bezel around it which is irrelevant anyway - you cant see the bezels once the dash facia is fitted

Its not within my religion to bolt scruffy looking stuff back onto a freshly painted car
Hence things get cleaned up
Then a coat of paint before they go back on
Floor panels received a coat waterproof sealer to the exposed grain edges in preparation of them being fitted
Whilst that was drying I returned to the indicator circuit and resolved the wiring - also sorted the hazard warning connections with a little more tracing - everything as yet is untested so I left the harness loose and until everything is tested & checked - just some minor odds to wire in now like the radio & clock once the switch has been refitted
Body caulking laid to the floor panel supports prior to fitting the panels
All fitted
Just a few odds to sort in the morning then I'll make a start on the unpainted panels in order to progress them

Windscreen washer bottle was scruffy & the frame quite rusty - initially I thought it would be more economical to replace them
But on checking prices that the traders wanted £50 + for a plastic bottle and bit of flat bar shaped to retain it - I cleaned them both up - frame was cleaned of the rust & repainted - both are next to impossible to see once the bonnet is fitted
I was planning on advancing the works on the remaining panels & getting them sprayed into polyester however - with the weather dire and ideally I would have needed to put the car outside whilst the panels were painted - hence that idea got shelved for today and I cracked on with some flatting prior to polishing
Got all of the nearside flatted
Then 1st stage polished
Which means some of the bling can be refitted - well not really bling but you know what I mean
I always make liberal use of a transparent wax coat underneath any fittings that get assembled to the body - its one of the ways of obtaining the maximum lifespan out of a decent paintjob
Always nice when all that work to correct them turns out exactly as planned
Great to see the dash back in too, and that you've carefully let in some structural chopped strand for the fully authentic experience!
Unbelievable that a previous owner / restorer would glue structural areas of the car together with glass fibre - dash fascia is incorrect in finish too - it should be a lighter vertical veneer and not the dark walnut that someone has added - Garth is just looking at replacement options
