So that's why it had to be done...

1973 Mk1 Capri V8 Nov 18, 2020 4:43:04 GMT Select PostDeselect PostLink to PostMemberGive GiftBack to Top Post by metalshapes on Nov 18, 2020 4:43:04 GMT I put in a 3 cylinder Wilwood pedal set.With a extra bellcrank on top to connect the pedal to the cable that connects to the throttle linkage.I made a column drop to mount the steering column.Mounted the brake fluid reservoirs, Tach, etc.And I figured that would do the job ( changed my mind later...)The tach was a old mechanical one that ran off the magneto with a cable.

1973 Mk1 Capri V8 Nov 18, 2020 5:21:27 GMT johnnybravo likes this Select PostDeselect PostLink to PostMemberGive GiftBack to Top Post by metalshapes on Nov 18, 2020 5:21:27 GMT For the Colour scheme I wanted to keep it like something Ford would have done, back then.But not exactly copy a known Capri Colour scheme.So I used these cars as my inspiration.This is basically the same as the early Cologne racers ( but in blue & white ).What I don't like about it is how they carried the dark Colour all the way around the side windows, including the A pillar.I think that makes that area too heavy, and tricks the eye into seeing bigger windows.I love this artist's rendering.It shows a early design version of the GT40, so early in fact it still shows the LOLA wheels ( they used the LOLA Mk6 GT ass a mule )The early prototype looked like this.

1973 Mk1 Capri V8 Nov 18, 2020 5:46:00 GMT Select PostDeselect PostLink to PostMemberGive GiftBack to Top Post by metalshapes on Nov 18, 2020 5:46:00 GMT I wasn't happy about just clamping a couple of gauges to the roll cage, so I decided to make a dash out of aluminum.Loosely patterned after a stock Capri dash.I built it so the top comes off ( in several pieces ) so if I need to work on it I dont have to lay on my back and try to reach it.I can do everything from the top.The removable top part has an extra removable panel in it to get to the reservoirs.I made a glovebox as well.
