Mounting ignition components
To get adjustable ignition to suit the supercharger. I've gone with NoDiz.
The distributor has gone in the scrap pile, to be replaced with a Ford/Bosch coil pack.
I've also a set of genuine Ford plug leads, and a cheap MAP sensor to read boost pressure into the ECU
All of this needs mounting, it all looks dreadfully modern, so needs to be tucked away as best as possible.
I'm going to use this space above the pedal box.
I've fitted extra long bolts to two of the steering column bolts, so they poke through into the engine bay, and can be used as studs.
I added a couple of rivnuts to give me an extra couple of mounting points.
A simple steel plate got the coil pack and MAP sensor mounted, and looking ugly.
I grabbed a piece of scrap ali, and bent it into shape as a test piece.
Then put a ball of tin-foil on top !!
Then close the bonnet. The tin foil has no memory, and crushes easily, so great to see if the bonnet still closes
It still closes, with about 5mm to spare, so I can continue.....
Sheet ali would have been fine, but I can't weld ali, so I fold up Version 2 out of sheet steel.
I've started routing/tiding the wiring.
But I can't really do too much, until I shorten and tidy the plug leads.
I don't want to do the leads until I've got the engine running, as I don't want to risk introducing any faults through dodgy wiring.
