good to see some companies these days still have pride in their warranties.
A couple of weeks ago my Lidl multi purpose battery tool died one day before the end of the three year warranty. Notified Lidl, phone call received from Their supplier in Germany, week later..brand new machine arrives. Just the job.
the best service i have had was from Gerber. i had been gifted one of their multi-tools about 10 years previously and despite very little use one springs on the folding mechanism broke. i contacted their customer service to inquire if i could purchase a replacement and was advised that they don't supply spares but would send me a complete replacement tool despite the fact i had no proof of purchase. i was really surprised but true to their word , a new one soon arrived. it was a win/win as i managed to weld the broken spring (far from pretty but functional) , so i now have one for the house and one for the shed.

Finally managed to get wheels over to the tyre fitter and the new tyres on
Then put the car into the workshop for a quick check round - weather dependant it may get a wash in the morning prior to a run out to Guildford for a meeting

So despite the weather I decided to give the Javelin some exercise to a club meeting in Guildford - just got to the outskirts of Basingstoke on a country lane and over the hedge springs a deer which I swerved and missed - Sadly no chance of missing the second one though I was traveling at 40 MPH at the time - a split second later and it would have landed on the bonnet - Nothing I could do in the circumstances
Straightened the number plate up which is retained by a full width mounting plate that is original to the car - I couldn't find any other damage so I continued my journey - I'll have straightening up session in the morning
Club member turned out in a Sunbeam Tiger and others all relied on their wimpish moderns

Had a 10 minute straightening up session this morning - removed the number plate & backing plate - some careful reshaping
Then slotted it back together - its just left a minor dent on the front panel which you cant see for the number plate anyway - I just need to give the grille a clean up now before I tuck the car away for winter
Have to say you were very lucky to have so little damage, shame about the deer, shame the deer isnt in your freezer!
A local farmer who stopped helped himself to the deer - Although I'm not vegetarian I haven't eaten beef / venison for 20 years - it gives me stomach cramps - very lucky with so little damage on the Javelin even luckier was the fact that I was going to take Mrs GN's modern Mokka - Although built to NCAP 5 star standards it would have seen the front bumper stuffed / lamps & probably some panel damage had it hit the deer at the same speed that the Javelin did

In advance of the clubs national rally this coming weekend the Javelin was treated to wash down - still needs a polish and a check over before Thursday when I depart for Stratford upon Avon
Also in advance of the rally - good friend & fellow Javelin owner Peter arrived having driven the 800 miles from Switzerland over the last 2 days

Grumpy Towers became Jowett Central this morning whilst I had a shuffle / relocation of projects
But that meant that this afternoon the Javelin could be loaded to the trailer
Now normally the Javelin would readily make the 85 miles up to Stratford upon Avon under its own steam
But myself & Mrs GN now look after the clubs shop stock plus I also have a display presentation to sort for next years centenary events and this lot wont all fit into the Javelin - Hence the use of the Range Rover

So we proved that we just (a only just at that) proved that we could get the shop stock into the Javelin whilst at the rally
Whilst the Javelin performed faultlessly we returned home with a new water pump that was built by one of our Scottish members for me - the bearings are starting to fail in the current one on the car hence I have had this on order for a few months

Finally found time to get round to this
Removed the old water pump
Combined water pump & dynamo bracket was scruffy so this got cleaned up & repainted
All the parts to rebuild the pump are available through the clubs spares department - however, we have a club member that rebuilds the pumps as a complete unit with a redesigned stainless steel impellor & shaft - not cheap but you get what you pay for
The coolant had been in the car for the last 3 years so this was drained off and I flushed the system through a few times but it was pretty clean
New pump fitted - fresh coolant added and the engine run up to temperature
Just a wash / degrease of the engine is required after I have changed the oil later this week
Along with a check over on the underside - the countdown to Goodwood Revival is now on where the car plays a annual working role

The Javelin was placed into the workshop late yesterday afternoon and I spent an hour just checking over & greasing up the lubrication points, brakes checked & adjusted - detected some very minor play in the nearside front swivel pin (king pin) - this will just require shimming on the thrust washer - its not critical at this stage and is something that I'll attend to over winter
Sadly the Avon Tourist tyres fitted to the rear have cracked sidewalls
This is the second replacement set under warranty from Avon who clearly had a materials manufacturing problem with a production batch
I didn't hold much hope but recontacted Longstone Tyres and forwarded some info & pics - they were back to me within a few hours stating that Avon would replace the tyres again under warranty - they were with me the following day - I just have to go and get them swapped over this morning
